Kamaria Francis is the recipient of the inaugural scholarship in memory of Maurice MacDonald, the late former vice president of Kingston College Old Boys' Association (Toronto).
She is the daughter of KCOBA (Toronto), Life Director, Alex "Franno" Francis and his wife Beverley Bowen.
Kamaria is enrolled in applied science at Brescia University College at the University of Western Ontario. Her area of focus is Foods and Nutrition, with a goal of working in the health care field. She considers the course of study an exciting program and is pleased to have been chosen as one of 100 students admitted each year.
Kamaria's interest in the program stems from her volunteer work at Bridgepoint Health, doing recreational therapy with the chronically ill.
At Brescia, Kamaria will be part of a small group of students that will introduce children in London schools to the importance of nutrition. She is also part of a student group focused on diabetes prevention and awareness.
The philosophy at Brescia is "Choose to Lead" and Kamaria believes this scholarship will help her to achieve that goal.
