Kingston College was forced to close its doors on Tuesday, May 25th 2010 as members of the security forces traded bullets with gunmen in the vicinity of the school, which is located on North Street in downtown Kingston. The school remained closed for the rest of the week due to the conflict in West Kingston.

Students went to the Overseas Examination Commission office on Piccadilly Road in Kingston for information on the sitting of their Caribbean Secondary Examination Certificate examinations. The exams were moved to St. Andrew’s High School which is located away from the downtown area.

At this time we have no reports that any of the students or staff was injured in the conflict.
