Christon Noyan is the first recipient of the Pinnock Family Educational Award which is a needs based scholarship awarded to students who show exceptional academic prowess, good all around citizenship, and integrity.

Application for the scholarship includes an essay outlining how the candidate plans to capitalize on this investment in his future. The essay should show that the candidate has ideas and opinions, is able to think logically, and can express himself clearly, with economy and elegance.

The candidates are nominated by the school administration; however a student can submit an independent application for consideration accompanied by two letters of recommendation written by civil leaders e.g. a Pastor, Teacher, Police Officer, etc. The scholarship lasts for one academic year. The recipient must reapply at the end of each year for the following year and must continue to demonstrate eligibility. The scholarship covers books, transportation, meals and other incidentals required for the successful completion of the school year. The funds are held and allocated by the school.

Clifford and Edris Pinnock raised their two sons to be students of education. Through very difficult times, including the death of Clifford while the boys, Leighton and Christopher, were very young, Edris, the matriarch of the family, had an unwavering commitment to education and instilled in her children perseverance and accountability. These fundamentals continue to serve them well.

Leighton and Christopher are North Street Alumni, Leighton attended Kingston College, and Christopher attended St. George’s College. Both boys attended North American Universities and hold advance degrees in Electronic Commerce, Technology Management and Business administration.

Both Leighton and Christopher are senior executives in their respective companies and devote a lot of time to supporting education.
