Christopher Allen, captain of the 2007 Manning Cup squad that made it to the semi-final round, graduated from Mount Vernon Nazarene University, on Saturday, May 19, 2012. He was conferred with a Bachelor of Science degree, majoring in Business Technology. Allen, the recipient of a scholarship from KCOBA New York, skillfully managed to balance his on field activities with his commitment in the classroom.
The association’s involvement with Chris started soon after he arrived in Ohio in the fall of 2008, and over the past four years members of KCOBA New York have made annual visits to central Ohio to watch him play. The results of the games took second place to the greater purpose of these trips, which were meant to introduce him to the KCOBA network, and give him the assurance that he was not alone even though he was far from home.
It was therefore with an overwhelming sense of pride that members of the New York Chapter sat in the audience as young Allen strode forward to receive his diploma, a successful outcome, and justification for continuing to support all members of the Fortis Family.
Chris completed his Cougar’s career with 31 goals to go along with 26 assists; he was a consistent performer on the team and won numerous awards throughout his four years, At the end of the 2011 season he was named to the Mid-Central College Conference second team.
KCOBA New York would like to convey heartiest congratulations to Chris Allen on the achievement of this milestone and wish him all the best in his future endeavors.
