Nicole Ondoro is the recipient of the 2012 scholarship in memory of Maurice MacDonald, the late former vice president of Kingston College Old Boys’ Association (Toronto).
She is the granddaughter of the former secretary of KCOBA (Toronto), Norman Lee. Nicole is enrolled in the business commerce program at the University of Toronto with aspirations to become a chartered accountant. She was recently awarded the Homelife Scholarship for the highest grade in Accounting and Business in her graduating class at Bishop Macdonell Catholic Secondary school.
Like her granddad, Nicole believes in giving back and as a result was engaged in numerous extra-curricular activities at her school including the following:
- Graduation Committee
- Mentorship
- Planning of fund raising events in support of “Free the children” and their work in Kenya.
Nicole is highly regarded by her teachers at Bishop MacDonell Catholic Secondary school as evidenced by the following testimonial from one of her teachers:
“This was Nicole’s graduation year and her academic and school involvement did not slow beyond warp speed. I do not imagine that she will ever slow down, she has struck a perfect balance in all facets of her community, school, friends and family life. Her outgoing and positive attitude is infectious in the classroom and I’m sure she will carry this attribute wherever life takes her. This extremely responsible and enthusiastic student will be missed by both her teachers and her peers at Bishop Macdonell”.
