We received word recently regarding the passing of Bertie Chin who was a member of KC’s 1957 football team which won the Manning Cup and Olivier Shield, in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. He was a classmate of Dobby Dobson, Adrian Strachan, Ben Priestly and Lenworth Smith.  No other details were available at press time.

After suffering a heart attack, Bishop E. Don Taylor successfully underwent cardiac surgery to have stents placed in the affected artery. He is now recovering at home.

The new entrance to the North Street campus has certainly lifted the spirits of students, staff and old boys. And the enthusiasm is spreading to several other initiatives such as the Douglas Forrest Building, acquisition of Lissant Road properties adjacent to KC, and the Library and IT projects.

Much praise is due to our new principal who after only one year in office has energized KC and placed it firmly on a trajectory for greater success. You can read Derrick R. Wright’s interview with Dave Myrie in this edition for insights into his managerial approach.

Happy reading!
