Kingston College is back in the School’s Challenge Quiz competition for 2017 having won its appeal against a two-year ban imposed by Television Jamaica (TVJ). The school will enter the competition as the #1 seed with its first match being in the second round.
KC, the most successful school in the Schools’ Challenge competition, was suspended by TVJ, following a posting on Facebook by a member of the KC coaching staff which was deemed by the TVJ management and producer Michael Gonzales to be offensive. It followed the semi-final loss by KC to Campion College, with much controversy erupting after KC gave the correct pronunciation of a word which the judges ruled against.
An appeal was immediately filed by the school and a vigorous letter writing campaign ensued with old boys highlighting the obvious injustice that had occurred.
KC appeal was handled by a legal team, led by Ian Wilkinson Q.C. and Jeffrey Foreman, both old boys.
