A welcome reception was held by the Atlanta Jamaican Association for Lisa
Hanna who was the guest of honor at their Jamaica 60th
Independence ball.
The reception was held at the Atlanta Airport Gateway Marriott hotel on
Friday, August 12th.
Several KC Old boys were on hand to extend a welcome to the Member of
Parliament and Opposition Shadow Minister for Foreign Affairs and Foreign
Trade.
Among them was Garfield McCook, the founder and CEO of the
Jamaica International Independence Foreign Song Competition Inc
(JIIFSC).
Also at the reception was the author, Glen Laman, current Atlanta
chapter board member and former chapter president who presented Lisa
with a copy of his latest book co-written with Dr. Basil Kong titled, The Hero of Fern Gully and other Jamaican Short Stories.
Lisa visited Kingston College in 2012 when she was the Minister of Youth
and Culture. She met sixth formers in an interactive forum where she heard
some of the burning issues of the day on the minds of the younger
generation. She was keen to develop pathways for youth which would lead to
their spiritual and economic advancement.
