Ambassador Nick Perry, the US Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Jamaica, recently attended the annual Kingston College Family Service at St. Augustine’s Chapel on North Street.

Perry was accompanied by his wife, Joyce. Also in attendance were the Chairman of the Board of Governors, Michael Vascianna, Principal Dave Myrie, Florida Old Boy Audley Hewett, Hon. Noel Spencer and his wife Dr. Patricia Miller-Spencer, the president of the Jamaica chapter of the KCOBA, Richard Lindsay, PTA president Peta-Gay Wynter and former KCOBA Jamaica president Dr. Patrick Dallas,
During the service Ambassador Perry addressed the congregants and reminisced on his days as a student at Kingston College where he was a member of the chapel choir.
He paid tribute to former headmaster the late Douglas Forrest who he said encouraged him and help him improve his singing ability.
He lamented the fact that the choir was experiencing some difficulty in recruiting trebles and offered to finance an incentive to boys who joined the choir as trebles.
During the service a new school flag was presented to the Chairman and Principal.
Noel Spencer reminded the audience of the Spencer Family Choral Fellowship which was launched in November 2021. It will assist first year students of Kingston College who have an interest in becoming choristers in addition to supporting the choir’s operating budget.
The principal recognized the choirmaster Audley Davidson for the excellent work. He thanked Ambassador Perry and his wife for attending the service and invited them to the Annual Christmas Concert when the full choir will be on display.
The school’s chaplain Father Michael Brown introduced the first-year choir members.
It was the first family service since the shutdown caused by the global pandemic.
