Former Kingston College Manning Cup football star, Dujuan “Whisper”
Richards, made history as the youngest to score in CONCACAF Gold Cup
competition.
Jamaica’s Head Coach Heimir Hallgrimsson noted this achievement in his
post-match press conference after Jamaica’s victory over Trinidad and
Tobago, highlighting that Dujuan only needed ten minutes to score.
Heimir had faced criticism for Dujuan being included in the squad despite
the availability of more experienced international players.
Whisper scored his goal with just minutes left in the game in which Jamaica
defeated Trinidad and Tobago 4-1.
Jamaica advances to the knockout round after finishing second behind the
USA in group A. Although they tied USA on points, USA scored 13 goals to
Jamaica’s 10 to win the group.
Dujuan has signed a deal to play for Chelsea FC in the English Premier
League when he turns 18.
