In October 2024, Fortis Nation Archives added The Legacy Wall Project to the Fortis Nation Gallery.
The Legacy Wall Project was sponsored by Noel Spencer, Dr. Patricia Miller-Spencer (his wife), Leighton Spencer and Phillipa Jagla (children) and Jazz Jagla (grandchild) of the Spencer Family Fellowship, in memory of Gwendolyn Omphroy-Spencer (the Spencer’s family matriarch) and Douglas Forrest (former principal -1956 to 1971).
THE LEGACY WALL PROJECT
This project included the installation of the Presidents – (the Anglican Bishops of Jamaica from 1925 to present) and all the Principals since 1925, including those who served in an acting role. These historical photos were installed in the library on the first floor.
OVERVIEW OF THE FORTIS NATION GALLERY
In 2022, the Board of Directors of Kingston College (KC) approved Fortis Nation Archives’ (FNA) request to establish an Archive in the newly renovated Douglas Forrest Building.
The first installation to the Gallery was done in July 2023 and consisted of sixty-five (65) historical KC photographs and documents. George Jograj, KCOB, sponsored this entire installation.
In July 2024, with support from KCOBA NY, KCOBA Toronto, KCOBA Florida, Fortis Uncork Inc and Dean Nevers, FNA was able to install some of KC’s Winning Teams. Additionally, Dr. Anne Burrowes (daughter of the late Foggy Burrowes) sponsored two Icon pieces.
THE NEXT PHASE
For the next phase, our aim is to install all the Board Chairmen - in the Board Room -and complete the installation of KC Winning Teams, including the School Challenge Quiz Teams.
