As Kingston College approaches the remarkable milestone of its 100th anniversary in 2025, the institution stands poised to honour its storied history, reflect on its journey, and chart an ambitious course for the future. To achieve this, a comprehensive and robust structure has been established under the Kingston College Centenary Celebrations Steering Committee (CCSC). This structure ensures a coordinated, efficient, and impactful execution of activities that commemorate the school’s centennial milestone, while upholding its legacy as one of Jamaica’s premier educational institutions.

The Centenary Celebrations Steering Committee

The Centenary Celebrations Steering Committee (CCSC), chaired by Mr. Michael Vaccianna, with Vice-Chair Mr. Dave Myrie and myself as Secretary, is the epicentre of this historic effort. Tasked with overseeing all aspects of the celebrations, the CCSC serves as the guiding body for planning and executing activities that will showcase the achievements of Kingston College (KC) and its contributions to national development.

The committee’s objectives include strengthening KC’s identity and reputation, fostering alumni relations, instilling a spirit of volunteerism, and creating opportunities for friend-raising and fundraising. Through these initiatives, we aim to unite the KC family, highlight the school's core values, and position KC as a forward-looking institution that embraces excellence in every endeavour.

The Centenary Secretariat

Operating from the Office of the Kingston College Development Trust Fund, the Centenary Secretariat is the administrative and logistical hub for all centenary-related activities. The Secretariat has the role of ensuring seamless communication and coordination among stakeholders, including alumni, donors, and the school community. It oversees project management, event planning, and donor relations, ensuring that centenary goals are achieved efficiently and effectively.

Specialized Sub-Committees

To ensure the comprehensive execution of the centenary plans, the CCSC has established several specialized sub-committees, each with distinct missions and responsibilities. These include:

  1. Budgeting & Financial Planning Sub-committee

Led by Mrs. Natalie Haynes, this sub-committee oversees the financial strategies and internal controls required for the centenary activities. From drafting budgets to monitoring performance against financial targets, this team ensures fiscal responsibility and sustainability.

  1. Centenary Projects Sub-committee

Under the leadership of Mr. Patrick McIntosh, this team focuses on the planning and execution of legacy projects that will solidify KC’s enduring impact. These projects include infrastructural developments, commemorative monuments, and other initiatives that celebrate the school's heritage.

  1. Events Planning Sub-committee

Chaired by Mr. Noel Greenland, this sub-committee is responsible for organizing centenary events, including galas, fundraisers, and commemorative services. With a strategic focus on engagement, the team aims to foster unity among the KC family through sports, music, and cultural celebrations.

  1. Fundraising Sub-committee

Led by Mr. Dennis Cohen, this group develops strategies to secure financial support for the centenary. Through targeted initiatives and alumni engagement, the team aims to meet ambitious fundraising goals to support key projects and events.

  1. Honours & Awards Sub-committee

Chaired by Prof. Rainford Wilks, this sub-committee will develop an awards programme to recognize individuals who have significantly contributed to KC’s legacy. The aim is to celebrate excellence among alumni, staff, and other key stakeholders.

  1. Merchandising & Marketing Sub-committee

Under Rainford “Perry” Bloomfield, this team oversees the development of merchandise and marketing strategies that promote KC’s centenary celebrations. By leveraging the school’s brand, the sub-committee seeks to generate commercial gain while preserving KC’s identity.

  1. Public Relations & Communications Sub-committee

Chaired by Mr. Wayne Robertson, this sub-committee ensures that centenary activities are communicated effectively to the KC family and the wider community. By utilizing traditional and social media, the team will amplify the celebration’s reach and engagement.

  1. Security Sub-committee

Led by Dr. Terrence Bent, this group is tasked with ensuring the safety and security of all centenary events. By conducting risk assessments and coordinating with relevant authorities, the sub-committee guarantees a secure environment for all participants.

Charting the Path Forward

As Kingston College embarks on this monumental journey, the structure we have established is designed to honour the past while laying the foundation for an even brighter future. Through collaboration, dedication, and strategic planning, we will create a centenary celebration that reflects the school’s enduring legacy and strengthens its place in Jamaica’s educational landscape.

As Fortis men, we are guided by the values of resilience, integrity, and excellence. Let us join together to make this milestone a momentous occasion for the Kingston College family and beyond.
