The Kingston College Centenary Development Programme is a transformative vision for the future of the school. It seeks to address long-standing infrastructural challenges while laying the foundation for continued growth and excellence. With a projected budget of USD $4.85 million, this programme will provide the resources necessary to enhance the North Street and Melbourne campuses, ensuring they meet the evolving needs of the Kingston College community.

This initiative is not merely about upgrading buildings; it is a commitment to the values and traditions that have defined Kingston College for generations, while embracing innovation to prepare students for the challenges of tomorrow. It is also a clarion call to the Fortis family worldwide—alumni, parents, and well-wishers—to come together in support of this bold endeavour.

Centenary Infrastructure Development Projects

At the heart of the Centenary Development Programme are eight major projects, each designed to contribute to the holistic development of Kingston College’s students and the broader school community.

  1. Finalisation and Official Opening of the Douglas Forrest Building (USD $50,000)

Named in honour of Kingston College’s second headmaster, the Douglas Forrest Building (DFB) is more than just a structure; it symbolizes progress and potential. Its completion will mark a significant milestone in the school’s evolution, providing modernized classrooms, robust internet connectivity, and enhanced security features, including CCTV. The DFB is a testament to the school’s commitment to providing students with a safe, technologically advanced learning environment that inspires excellence.

  1. Securing Additional Lands for Expansion (USD $350,000)

Space constraints have long been a challenge at Kingston College, especially with its growing student population. To address this, the school is actively pursuing the acquisition of adjoining properties on Lissant Road and near the Melbourne Campus. These expansions will create room for new facilities and provide students with ample space for academic, athletic, and spiritual pursuits.

  1. Construction of the Auditorium (USD $3,750,000)

The flagship project of the Centenary Development Programme is the construction of a state-of-the-art auditorium on the edge of Clovelly Park playfield. This multipurpose facility, with a seating capacity of 2,500, will serve as a cultural and creative hub for the Kingston College community. Equipped with modern amenities and indoor sports facilities, the auditorium will host performances, lectures, ceremonies, and assemblies, becoming a space where memories are made and dreams are nurtured.

  1. Renovation of St Augustine's Chapel (USD $75,000)

St Augustine’s Chapel has been a cornerstone of spiritual life at Kingston College. Its renovation reflects a commitment to preserving the school’s rich traditions while embracing modernity. Upgrades to the chapel’s interior and exterior, along with the installation of advanced audio-visual and telecommunications systems, will ensure that it continues to serve as a sanctuary for reflection and spiritual growth for generations to come.

  1. Construction of a Well at Melbourne Campus (USD $150,000)

In line with its commitment to sustainability, Kingston College plans to drill a well at the Melbourne Campus. This project will ensure a reliable water supply for irrigating the playfields and maintaining green spaces, fostering environmental stewardship among students.

  1. Kingston College Solarization Project (USD $300,000)

As Jamaica transitions to renewable energy, Kingston College is leading the way with its Solarization Project. By installing solar photovoltaic systems on its campuses, the school aims to reduce its carbon footprint, lower energy costs, and provide students with a practical education in sustainability. The grid-tied configuration also allows the school to earn revenue by exporting electricity to the national grid, reinforcing the project’s long-term viability.

  1. Fortis Walkway Legacy Initiative (USD $50,000)

The Fortis Walkway Legacy Initiative offers alumni and faculty a unique opportunity to leave a lasting mark on Kingston College. By purchasing brick pavers inscribed with their names and years of association with the school, supporters can contribute to a tangible legacy while raising funds for the Centenary Development Programme. This initiative is a tribute to the enduring spirit of Kingston College and its impact on the lives of countless individuals.

  1. North Street Campus Frontage Improvement (USD $125,000)

As the face of Kingston College, the North Street Campus is poised for a transformational facelift. The Campus Frontage Improvement Project will create a modern, welcoming environment that reflects the school’s commitment to excellence. By blending heritage with innovation, this project underscores Kingston College’s dedication to providing a world-class education.

A Call to Action: Supporting the Centenary Vision

The Centenary Development Programme is an ambitious undertaking, but it is one that aligns perfectly with Kingston College’s tradition of resilience, excellence, and innovation. To achieve these goals, the school relies on the unwavering support of the Fortis family—past students, parents, corporate partners, and friends.

Every contribution, no matter how small, brings Kingston College closer to realizing this transformative vision. Whether you choose to donate towards the construction of the auditorium, the solarization project, the Melbourne Park Well, or the Fortis Walkway Legacy Initiative, your support will directly impact the lives of current and future Kingston College students.

To facilitate contributions, the Kingston College Development Trust Fund has been established to ensure transparency and accountability. Donors can rest assured that their investments will be used exclusively for the projects outlined in the Centenary Development Programme.

Celebrating 100 Years of Fortis Excellence

As Kingston College approaches its centenary, we have much to celebrate. From its humble beginnings in 1925 to its status today as one of Jamaica’s premier institutions, Kingston College has consistently demonstrated a commitment to academic excellence, athletic achievement, and spiritual growth.

The Centenary Development Programme is not just about building infrastructure; it is about building the future. It is about ensuring that Kingston College continues to produce young men who are well-rounded, resourceful, and ready to contribute meaningfully to society.

As members of the Fortis family, we have a shared responsibility to preserve the legacy of Kingston College and prepare it for the next century of success. Together, we can ensure that Kingston College remains a beacon of hope, excellence, and inspiration for generations to come.

Let us seize this moment to give back to the institution that has given so much to us. Let us come together to support the Centenary Development Programme and reaffirm our commitment to the values that have defined Kingston College for nearly 100 years.

Fortis Cadere Cedere Non Potest. We stand strong, united, and unwavering as we build a brighter future for Kingston College.
