Kingston College (KC) clinched their 11th hold on the ISSA Olivier Shield recently defeating daCosta Cup champions Garvey Maceo High 4-3 in a dramatic sudden-death penalty shootout. The teams were deadlocked at 1-1 after regulation time and remained tied 3-3 after the initial five penalties, setting the stage for a nail-biting finish.
KC’s Kamaul Patterson calmly converted his penalty during sudden death, while Garvey Maceo’s Livingstone Donaldson missed the target, securing the victory for the Manning Cup champions.
Garvey Maceo appeared poised to claim their first-ever Olivier Shield title when Omarian O’Brien opened the scoring in the 62nd minute. O’Brien capitalized on a long ball from Tyreek McKenley, outpacing KC defender Kvist Paul and slotting the ball through the legs of goalkeeper Malique Williams.
However, in the 84th minute, an own goal shifted the momentum. McKenley inadvertently redirected a cross from KC’s Damaine Smith past his goalkeeper, leveling the match and forcing penalties.
This triumph adds to KC’s illustrious Olivier Shield legacy, which includes outright titles in 1949, 1952, 1957, 1964, 1965, 1975, 1986, 2021, and shared titles in 1981 (with Dinthill Technical) and 1985 (with Rusea’s High).
Kingston College's victory reaffirms their dominance in schoolboy football, capping off an unforgettable season with yet another prestigious title.
