The last few weeks have certainly been eventful ones for KC. It was our end of summer roller-coaster ride. First we received word that the principal, Mr. Herbert Nelson, would not be returning. A collective gasp of, "Oh no, not again" echoed through the KC community. With only weeks before the new school year, the college is once more without a permanent principal.
Next was the news that the Chairman of the Board of Governors was retiring. Then came the most welcome news -- Stephen Vasciannie had accepted a request to chair the board.
It has been widely reported that Vasciannie bleeds purple blood when cut. And so many old boys are excited at the prospect of a "fortisan" leading the board.
We wish the new chairman all the best and encourage all parties to rally in support of this new chapter in the history of Kingston College.
Since our last issue new boards of directors have been put in place in the NY and Toronto Chapters. Reports on these elections are elsewhere in this month's edition.
The CXC and CAPE results are out and KC's results are quite good overall, a testament to the dedication and hard work of our teachers. A summary and analysis of results can be found in this edition of the newsletter.
We have also published the KC Trust Fund Report for your review.
And there is lots more, but be sure to read Dr. Lazarus's interview with a brilliant Jamaican student with ties to KC. You can also check in on the happenings over at Johnson C. Smith University where coach Lennox Graham continues to break new ground.
Happy Reading!
