The 2011 edition of the George Thompson Scholarship Fundraising Christmas party was a resounding success. It was held at the Medlock Bridge Clubhouse in Alpharetta on Saturday December 17th   2011 and featured the musical selections of the inimitable DJ Migraine.

The festivities kicked off at about 8.15 pm with the serving of a meal prepared by the popular Jamaican restaurant, Jamaica Breeze, located in Lawrenceville, GA. The menu consisted of curried goat, fish and jerk chicken along with rice and peas and mixed vegetables.

We had an improvement in attendees this year over several previous ones and it was clearly noticeable that we had support from several of our younger old boys. DJ Migraine had the crowd rocking all night and patrons were still begging for more when we had to pull the plug on the event at about 3.15am.
We have received several positive feedbacks from patrons who truly had a good time and took the time out to commend us on a well put together event.

We would like to thank all those who came out to support us including Jamaica's Honorary Consul, the Hon. Vin Martin and several members of various organizations including but not limited to, the AJA, Manchester High School Alum, St. Hugh's High School Alum and The Integrity Children's Fund among others.

Special appreciation goes out to all the ladies who, as usual, worked hard behind the scenes.  They include: Mrs. Jo-Ann McNish who was mercurial in her support and assistance to us in many areas; Toni Laman, Merrill Chevannes, and Annette Stewart who did a great job with the buffet.

Thanks also to the Board and members of KCOBA Atlanta who rallied together to make this venture a success. Special mention must go out to our Event Manager, Glen Laman whose attention to detail kept us on course and made sure all tasks were covered.

Royal Caribbean Bakery and Kool Runnings generously provided door and raffle prizes. Our heartfelt thanks to them as well.

As a result of the success of this event, the youth of Kingston College will greatly benefit from its proceeds in 2012. It was truly an enjoyable occasion and one worthy of bearing the name of the great Jamaican and Kingston College stalwart, Mr. George "T" Thompson.
