Former Provost of John Jay College of Criminal Justice of the City University of New York, Professor Basil 'Bagga' Wilson will deliver the Bishop Gibson Founders' Week 2012 Lecture entitled " The Contribution of Kingston College to Leadership in the Jamaican society since 1962".
The lecture is scheduled to take place in the St. Augustine's Chapel on Wednesday April 18, 2012 at 1:00 pm and forms part of the KCOBA sponsored Founders' Week activities commencing April 16.
Both 'Bagga 'and his brother Hugh attended KC in the mid 50's to early 60's. They collectively represented the school in Manning Cup between 1959 and 1962. A community social activist in the Rae Town, Browns Town and Franklyn town areas, 'Bagga' founded the Nascimento Football Club that evolved into the House of Dread and Rae Town FC .
The siblings went onto attain academic excellence and are among the most sought after professors as lecturers, consultants, newspaper columnist and radio social/political analysts. Both are founding members of the KCOBA New York Chapter and Hugh presently secures funding for The Wilson Saunders scholarship for needy KC students.
Now retired, Basil Wilson is currently working with Munroe College in the Bronx where he is developing and implementing the faculty's Masters Degree programs. Bagga is married to his childhood sweetheart Phyllis and they are the proud parents of three children one of whom carries the Christian name Mabrico after the outstanding KC alumnus Mabrico Ventura.
