On an unusually mild Sunday afternoon February 19, 2012, led by President, Lawrence Prendergast, members of the KCOBA (Toronto) family turned out in significant numbers to support the Tenn family and more importantly share in the celebration of the life of distinguished Kingston College Old Boy, Franklin "Frankie" Tenn. After a long and courageous battle with cancer, "Frankie" passed away peacefully the prior week, on February 13, 2012.
The funeral chapel was packed to capacity with some attendees standing in the back and spilling out into the corridor, when the Reverend, Father Theadore Hunt formally initiated the proceedings at approximately midday, visitation having concluded in the previous hour.
Natalie and Gary, two of Frankie's three children with his wife of 48 years Lurline (nee Tai Pow), delivered stirring tributes to their dad. Natalie recounted Frankie's encyclopaedic knowledge, love of flowers and his deep affection for his three grandchildren. Gary presented a fascinating biographical sketch of his father and highlighted Frankie's love and commitment to his family including that of his alma-mater, Kingston College.
Against a backdrop of a rolling pictorial of selected highlights of Frankie's life, the proceedings continued with the homily by Father Hunt, prayers by KCOB Douglas MacDonald and musical renditions by soloist and guitarist, Leslie Chin.
The occasion concluded with a reception after the service, where more tributes were paid to Frankie. Eddie Patterson spoke on behalf of KCOBA (Toronto) and personal tributes were extended by Patrick Johnson and Barry Huie.
