Atlanta KCOB Glendon Thompson is asking us to help the inner city dance troupe known as L’Acadco: A United Caribbean Dance Force get to Beijing, China for the Meet in Beijing Arts Festival.  The festival will be held in May, 2013.

L'Acadco's freshness exudes from a revolutionary fusion of rich Caribbean folklore with contemporary themes. Their distinctive choreography is based on a dance language created by the artistic director Dr. L'Antoinette Stines, which includes influences from Africa, Cuba, jazz and classical ballet.

The phenomenal Drum Xplosion is an integral part of the L'Acadco experience and features Jamaican and traditional African drumming. Performing on aluminum stilts ranging from 4 feet to 10 feet tall, L'Acadco is the only company in Jamaica the offers stilt walking in their repertoire.

This opportunity to perform in China will promote cultural understanding and friendship.

Glendon is well known for his many visits to China, the land of his grandfather.  He opened the first Jamaican restaurant in China in 2007 ( http://www.kcobaatl.org/2007/Dec/Article1.htm).  Over the years Glendon has organized numerous projects with China including the Global Fusion event in Atlanta and China’s Daza Rock Carving Tour of the US.

The group is seeking assistance with the international transportation of 18 cultural ambassadors and their equipment from Jamaica to Beijing for the Meet in Beijing Arts Festival.
