Akeem Thorpe Wins First Barry Huie Scholarship

Akeem Thorpe is the winner of the Barry Huie Scholarship. The Barry Huie scholarship was established in honour of the deceased former president of the KCOBA Toronto chapter.

This is the first award of the scholarship. It was established shortly after his death in the summer of 2012 when his family donated funds collected at his memorial service to KCOBA (Toronto) specifically for this purpose. It is open to Kingston College students who have been accepted to pursue post-secondary studies.

Akeem is a former captain of the KC’s School’s Challenge Quiz Team. He is currently a student at the University of the West Indies (Mona) where he pursuing a degree in biochemistry. He hopes to eventually study medicine and become a pathologist.
