KC Times photographer Ronnie Chin had unprecedented access to all activities at this year’s Penn Relays Carnival.
This year marked the 50th anniversary of KC participation in the relays. They were the first Jamaican team to compete running in the 4x440 and the 4x110 yard relays.
And so the gate was opened for other Jamaican schools to participate. Today, the Penn Relays Carnival is very much a Jamaican affair as some thirty three (33) schools from the island make the trip to the University of Pennsylvania.
This gallery of his photos provides a glimpse of the various events and captures the atmosphere that prevailed through much of the carnival.
