Sandra Kenton-Fraser taught English at Kingston College for 14 years before leaving in 2001 for a stint in the New York City Public School System.
Returning to Jamaica in 2004, she described KC as a paradise compared to the New York schools. She taught at Theodore Roosevelt and Evander Childs High Schools. “The teens were bad, schools had metal detectors, children carried switchblades and cops patrolled with guns,” she recalled.
She passed on in December, 2016 after battling leukemia.
She was the principal of the Sankofa Preparatory School and Learning Centre in Albion, St. Thomas.
