The Atlanta Chapter of the Kingston College Old Boy’s Association was established in the summer of 1999 after a series of exploratory meetings were organized including one at Club Phase II on Memorial Drive in Stone Mountain. Kenneth Reeves was one of the early organizers.
The chapter is registered in the state of Georgia as the KC Old Boys Association (GA) Inc. It is also known as KCOBA Atlanta and KCOBA Georgia. The chapter is a 501 c (3) non-profit organization registered with the IRS.
The articles of incorporation were based on those used by the New York and Toronto chapters.
The first elections were held in the summer of 1999. They were supervised by two old boys: Norman Wallace from the Toronto Chapter and Winston Stewart from the New York chapter.
Patrick Hector was elected as the chapter’s first president. In the 20 years of its history the Atlanta chapter has had 10 different presidents.
For over 15 years the chapter has produced the KCOBA newsletter which later became the KC Times, a news magazine for the Kingston College community.
The chapter also established the George Thompson Memorial Scholarship which supports current students at the school as well as old boys who are attending university.
The two main events on the chapter’s calendar are the Annual Purple Fest each summer and the Annual George Thompson Memorial Christmas Party held each December.
