The 2019 Annual George Thompson Memorial Christmas Party was blessed with beautiful weather and a record turnout as Atlanta celebrated its 20th anniversary as a chapter of the KC Old Boys’ Association.
Congrats to the 2019 honorees: Dr. David Panton for service to the community; DJ Wayne Hosin aka DJ Migraine for service to the Atlanta Chapter and Basil Watson for his accomplishments in the Arts. Kevin Boothe and Glen Simmonds were awarded posthumously.
Dr. Elaine Bryan, Jamaica’s honorary Consul to Atlanta presented the awards.
Atlanta’s “golden voice,” Parry Hinds entertained the attendees during dinner with a selection of love songs while DJ Migraine kept the music playing and the attendees dancing.
Our special guests for the evening included KC’s principal Dave Myrie and his wife Helen who came up from Jamaica for the event. The principal gave a report on the school’s progress and highlighted achievements in academics as well as sports.
Many thanks to the sponsors who contributed prizes or bought ads in the 20th anniversary Journal. And special thanks to everyone who supported us.
The proceeds from the event will benefit current students at Kingston College as well as Old Boys with their educational expenses in honor of the great Jamaican stalwart George Thompson.
