The KCOBA Tampa Connection had its 12th annual dinner/dance on Saturday, March 07, 2020, which was well supported and attended notwithstanding the outbreak of Covid-19.
In attendance at this year event we had some special guests: Principal and Mrs Dave Myrie, Consul General R. Oliver Mair and Dr Althea (Anne) Burrowes (daughter of Foggy Burrowes).
Of special mention there was a continuous pictorial loop of highlights in the life of KC and also a video clip with messages from some of the scholarship information about the focus of the Tampa Connection in supporting the students at KC. Additionally, we had Ms Frances-Marie Coke inaugural launching of her book “The Spirit of Clovelly Park” which included autographed copies.
This year, as is customary, certain individuals were honored for their significant contribution to KC and the efforts to support the school: Vincent Butler, Dwight Davis & Mike Hoyes.
The main goal of this event, and like events that are held by the other KCOBA Chapters is to provide financial support to the school and its students; and the contributions to KC do not end with the dances. The KCOBA Tampa Connection has been fortunate enough to have also received many financial donations towards our various scholarship funds. There are 3 Funds being maintained 1) Foggy Burrowes Scholarship 2) Hope Trantor Scholarship 3) Vincent Butler Scholarship. We are seeking to have these scholarship funds maintained with a sizeable amount to allow us to increase the number of students being sponsored.
The Tampa KCOBA Executive Committee: President Delroy Rookwood, Vice President Keith Rowe, Treasury Ken Gordon, Secretary David Ashman, Asst. Secretary Earl Miller. There are total of 11 members in the committee.
Our thanks and gratitude go out to all those who have made our dinner/dance and scholarship fundraising a success, and we look forward to your continued support. Fortis Forever.
