Nine Old Boys participated in the 2023 World Athletics Championships in Budapest, Hungary.

The 2023 World Athletics Championships, the nineteenth edition, were held from 19 to 27 August 2023 at the National Athletics Centre, in Budapest, Hungary. These are the first World Athletics Championships to be held in Hungary.

Kingston College Old Boys were a huge presence at the Championship.

By our count, a total of nine past students participated in the championship.

In addition to representing Jamaica, KC Old Boys also competed for Great Britain and St. Lucia.

Zarnel Hughes represented Great Britain in the 100-meter finals and the 200-meter finals. He won the bronze medal in the 100-meter.

Michael Joseph ran in the 400-meter semifinals representing St. Lucia.

Jhevaughn Powell and D’Andre Anderson represented Jamaica in the 4x400 Heats.

Hansel Parchment the Tokyo gold medalist took silver in the 110-meter hurdles.

Wayne Pinnock took home the silver medal in the long jump.

Rajindra Campbell made it to the shot putt finals.

Carey McLeod took 4th place in the long jump.

Jaydon Hibbert participated in the triple jump where he was one of the favorites for a medal but could not jump in the finals due to an unfortunate injury.

In addition to the athletes, there were many KC Old Boys in Budapest enjoying the spectacle and cheering along the Jamaican athletes.

Among the KC Old Boys in Budapest were Dr. Ivor Nugent, Dr. Warren Blake, Dr. Paul Hunt, Dr. Cedric Lazarus, president of the JAAA Garth Gayle, Dr. Norman Smith, Steve McGregor, Charles Headlam, Lenford Salmon, Wayne Lewis, Dwight Davis, Marlon Pottinger, Wilfred McKenley, and Pierce Parnell. Principal Dave Myrie was also there as a member of the Jamaica management team.
